The Sophie Hoodie

Ok, so I am officially done my very first sewing project in YEARS! AND...happy to report that it went really well :)
It's actually sick how much fun I had trying to figure everything out, putting everything together and the feeling of accomplishment when it was finished...so fun...I think I might be hooked.
I have set up a make-shift work station out of my kitchen table (haha) and have since moved the iron and ironing board upstairs...now my main floor looks like a sewing factory exploded...good times ;)
Here are some pictures of the hoodie and a link to the pattern I used...it's a little big for her teenie tiny frame but once I get better I might try to alter the patter to fit her a little better :)
Now on to finishing the tunic :)

Ruche.com

Ok...my newest online shopping obsession....Ruche.com - their stuff is really way too cute. I could spend hours (and maybe have on a couple of occasions...) looking through their stuff...yikes...scary business!
I made my first purchase from there this week and my online delights should arrive by next Monday...pretty excited not gonna lie!
I'm hoping the fit will be right - but that's the fear with any online purchase from brands you have never purchased before...we'll see!
Here's a link to Ruche for your viewing pleasure ;) I will let you know when the goodies arrive and if it has been a success!http://www.shopruche.com/index.php

The Tunic Project...

Ok, so I have finally cleared some space for my sewing station...let the games begin!! =)
I am starting my first sewing project tomorrow...I am going to attempt a Cynthia Rowley pattern - it's a really cute tunic. I am still trying to figure out what fabric I am going to use and what type of fabric would be best for what I am trying to achieve, but I guess that it's all in the learning process.

I took at look at Cynthia Rowley's new collection (2011 Resort) and there are some pieces I really like. My favorite is this really cool short & flowy top look with a giant fish necklace and flower patterned boots :)

You should check out her website :)

I will keep you posted on my progress on the pattern.

This is a link to the pattern I am using:

Wish me luck!

FAB Sunday =)

Seriously? What could be better? Mom picks me up (in a VETTE no less!) and we head to Whyte and have a super fun impromptu "trying on" party!! Great success at C'est Sera - lots of fabulous new things! And the boots! Eject...I love you.
Then headed to second cup for a skinny vanilla latte, obviously... ;) then on to lulu lemon, where we found the cutest hoodies! and thank goodness they revised them. I used to hate their hoodies because there was absoutely no stretch and they use a really thick fabric and they were kind of short - well good news my friends! They have righted all of those wrongs! They now have stretch panels on the sides and are longer! :) Seriously cute and comfortable hoodies...as far as hoodies go!
Then a nice trip to see Jack :) for some sweet snuggles and then off to my wonderful mother's amazing closet for some much anticipated raiding!! =)
She has such fabulous style and we had a blast mix and matching her wardrobe and finding new ways to make her existing clothes into brand new outfits! FUN.

Wish I would have taken some pictures of the fantastic outfits we created so I could share with you...I guess I need to keep that in mind, because that probably helps when writing a blog...whoops...well I'm still new at this.
Until next time...

First blog post EVER!!

Hello!
I have never done this before! I am a brand new and very excited blogger ;)
The thing I am most passionate about is fashion - clothing, accessories, jewelry, SHOES...I am hopelessly in love with fashion...hence my wanting to blog about it!
I am currently working towards making my dreams become reality and I find during this process, writing about it helps.

Right now I am currently researching online courses for Fashion Marketing/Design and taking a look at my options. I have also just recently started buying patterns with the full intention of dusting off the old sewing machine and finally taking a crack at sewing my own clothes...scary! I am also starting to teach myself to knit. I have made one miserable toque and quite a few scarves. My goal for Christmas this year is to make some very stylish scarves for my loved ones ;)

On to my dream...I am going to open my own boutique one day in the near future and until the day that I am inviting you all to my grand opening, I will be writing about my progress to get to said goal.

Along the way I will also write about my favorite new trends or ones I could do without and I welcome any feedback you may have.
This blog is a little self indulgent but I hope that some of you enjoy it.
